Area of CoverageFibreglass Flat Roofs in Kent

Traditionally flat roofs in Kent have been completed in felt. Unlike felt roofing our fibreglass flat roofing solutions do not rely on bitumen and other materials to bond and join them, this makes a huge difference in terms of the potential life of your new flat roof installation. Felt flat roofs over time give in to the elements eventually this weathering slowly destroys the roof and ultimately leads to the need for a complete re-roof.

Fibreglass Flat Roofs Are Low Maintenance

Due to the UK climate a common problem affecting felt flat roofs is the unsightly growth of moss and algae this moss growth brought on by our inclement weather requires regular removal. Fibreglass flat roofs do not suffer with this problem as moss and algae are simply unable to grow on fibreglass.

Another common problem suffered by felt flat roofs is blistering and cracking, these issues ultimately lead to costly maintenance bills. Fibreglass flat roofs do not crack or blister nor are the susceptible to moss and algae, leaving you safe in the knowledge there will be no unforeseen costs, if you would like to know more contact us today.

Regal Rooflines fibreglass roofing is an in-situ, high performance, waterproofing system, which can be used to form a waterproof membrane regardless of the size or complexity of the application.

Fibreglass Flat Roofs GRP Materials

Fibreglass Flat Roofs, Insulation and The Law

The right type of insulation will keep you warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer whilst at the same time reducing fuel bills. Since the mid-2000s and the inception of the conservation of fuel and power building regulations the legal requirements around fibreglass flat roofs have changed. These days all new build flat roofs must adhere to these specific requirements. All new flat roofs are then tested by local building officials.

Fibreglass Roofing Example

Existing flat roof in need of repair

  • Step 1

Evaluation. Here is an example of a flat roof in need of repair.

Original boards replaced with smart ply

  • Step 2

The original boards are removed and replaced with new 18mm T&G SmartPly®. The most important consideration is to achieve a perfectly level surface.

grp trims installed to roof perimeter

  • Step 3

Pre-formed GRP trims are then installed to the perimeter of the roof.

Fibreglass joins banded and laminated

  • Step 4

Any remaining joins on the roof are then bandaged and laminated into place using specially formulated resins. A heavy-weight chopped strand mat is then consolidated with two coats of resin in order to laminate in-situ.

Pigmented top coat applied to fibreglass

  • Step 5

Finally, a pre-pigmented top coat is applied in order to provide a high quality and durable finish.
